What time do the MTA offices open and close?

The MTA offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Does the MTA travel out of State?

No. The MTA’s primary routes are throughout the city of Flint. The MTA’s Your Ride transports throughout Genesee County. The MTA transports workers regionally to Oakland and Livingston counties as well as to the Delphi plant in Troy. For more information on these routes you may pick up our Primary and Regional route guides at the customer service department at the downtown transit center, or at the MTA’s administration building on S. Dort Hwy.

Does the office shut down for lunch?

No, the offices are open during lunch hours for the convenience of our passengers.

What time do the buses start running?

Primary route service hours are:
Monday-Friday 6:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m.
Saturday 6:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m.
Sunday 9:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m.

The MTA does not operate buses on the following legal holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Can you explain the different MTA passes?

General Bus Pass
Used by the general public.
$50.00 per month

System-wide Bus Pass
Used on both MTA buses and Your Ride vans as well as Regional routes.


MTA "Reduced Fare Eligible " Bus Pass
Used by persons with disabilities or 65 years and older. To purchase this pass you must present proof of eligibility. This pass can only be used on MTA Buses.


Your Ride Special Bus Pass
Used by persons with disabilities or 65 years and older.
To purchase you must present proof of eligibility. This pass can be used on Your Ride only.

How do I get an MTA Eligibility card?

In order to qualify for an MTA eligibility card, you must fill
out an MTA Eligibility Application. If you are over the age of 65, an eligibility card is not needed. If you are under the age of 65, you need to have a health or agency professional verify your disability. Attached to the MTA Eligibility application is the form your doctor, health professional or agency professional will need to fill out. After your application has been verified and approved, your picture will be taken and put on to the card. If you have any questions regarding the MTA Eligibility card, please call the MTA Customer Service Department at (810) 767-0100.

How do I get an ADA Eligibility card?

To qualify for an ADA Eligibility card, you must qualify under one of three categories. Any individual with a disability qualifies who is:

  1. Unable, as the result of a physical or mental impairment, to get on, ride, or get off an accessible vehicle on the public bus system; OR

  2. Needs the assistance of a wheelchair lift or other boarding assistance device and is able with such assistance to get on, ride and get off an accessible vehicle, BUT, such a vehicle is not available on the route when the individual wants to travel; OR

  3. Has a specific impairment related condition (including vision, or impairments causing disorientation) which prevents travel to or
    from a station or stop on the system.

An ADA eligibility application needs to be filled out and turned into the MTA customer service department. The application will be reviewed in order to verify that the criteria for eligibility is met. What are the guidelines to getting something placed on the Community Billboard downtown?

You must have non profit (501C3) or not for profit status. Organizations must provide their ID# . The MTA will not display any sales, cigarette or liquor advertisements, nor any governmental agencies advocating programs. The MTA reserves the right to refuse, edit, reject delete, or change any content temporarily or permanently for any reason. Any agency or entity that uses the sign agrees to this restriction. MTA shall not be liable under any circumstances, for any claims what so ever relating to an agency or entities use of the electronic sign. , including but not limited to loss of revenue.
