Mechanic
Scope of Responsibilities:
Service, maintain and repair mechanical parts in transportation support vehicles and equipment.
Supervision by:
Manager of Maintenance
Principal Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair problems on Authority vehicles and equipment.
- Perform general maintenance of all Authority equipment and vehicles including, but not limited to, adjustment of engines, transmissions. differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems, and clutches on gas and diesel equipment; tune up engines, ignition parts, clean and adjust carburetors.
- Perform preventive maintenance and make inspections of vehicles for proper working order and safe operation.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Acceptable Employment Requirements
- Knowledge of welding practices and techniques.
- Knowledge of diesel and gasoline powered engines.
- Knowledge of routine vehicular maintenance.
- Skill in reading and interpreting technical information.
- Skill in making mechanical adjustments and repairs.
Education and/or Experience;
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Five years experience in bus mechanics or related field
- Group A or B CDL, Passenger endorsement with air brakes (or ability to obtain CDL)
- Pass DOT physical, Drug Screen and criminal background checks
Physical Requirements:
- Operation of Class B motor vehicle requiring frequent upper body movement; repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers to include grasping both firm and light
- Seeing to drive and to observe work performed
- Hearing and speaking to communicate
- Frequent Reaching
- Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, turning, reaching, carrying, pulling, pushing, climbing and extensive sitting
- Continual lifting and carrying of 0 – 20 pounds. Floor to chest and overhead
- Frequent lifting and carrying of 20 – 80 pounds. Floor to chest and overhead
WAGE RATE:
- Determined by Union Contract – currently $18.25/hour
